Week 6 Presentation
Thesis Statement – 2019
This project is an audio and marketing package focusing on the distribution of digital and analog formats of a compilation album. Due to streaming services, the sales of Vinyl and CDs have plummeted. While Vinyl sales have been starting to rise over recent years the sales of CDs have barely started to gain traction but as of recent there are CD exclusive releases. This project came into mind with the intention of helping boost sales of both Vinyl, CD, and cassette releases. There is something special when owning a Vinyl or CD. You get to hold an artists copy of their work whether that maybe the audio on the Vinyl or CD. As well as the packaging that was designed for that project. With streaming services you as a consumer lose a sense of ownership, touch and quality of audio.
A website will be designed with the intention of acting as a record label’s or musician’s website “promoting” and “selling” the compilation album. The website should look and function like a professional website.

Resources/Tutorials
All of these tutorials and resources helped me complete my projects over the semester. Feel free to look at the links provided. Not all the tutorials that I tackled made it onto the final project but still gave me new design skills.

Progress Report
As the semester is coming to an end my project has had set backs and revisions.
Originally the Compilation was intended to be Back to the Dancefloor but after consideration I felt that Back On the Dancefloor suited the project best.
A small edit to the CD Bonus Tracks was made. Previously, “Euphoria” by Loreen was included but was ultimately replaced by “My Rhythm” by Velvet. Loreen had 4 tracks which didn’t feel right as every artist had 2 tracks plus the possibility of having 1 extra track included. “My Rhythm” by Velvet still makes the album flow fantastically as it did before. Loreen’s other 3 tracks still perfectly fit the album.
The intention of a prototype app was scrapped due to time constraints as well as small snippet previews of the songs on the website. Other than that production on the project is near completion.
Neon Text Effect – Adobe Illustrator
To further develop my skills in Adobe Illustrator I picked a text manipulation tutorial that interested me. I really liked the vibrant neon effect that was done to the text. I found this tutorial to be very helpful but also difficult at some points. The photos provided show my progress of completing the tutorial. I put my own twist on the tutorial by not using the word “NEON” as used in it. I went with the phrase “Back To The Dancefloor” as I wanted to practice text manipulation with the title of the compilation album I’m designing for my “Audio and Marketing” project. I used a thinner and curvier font instead of the chunky geometric font used in the tutorial. I ended up adjusting the Hue, Saturation and brightness to fully bring the emphasis of the bright neon colors for the final result.
